The first Pediatric Rheumatology services in Eastern India were started by the Institute way back in 2007. Initially started as a dedicated OPD on every Wednesday morning, we now also have a 6 bedded Pediatric Rheumatology ward. The department caters to children suffering from a wide variety of rheumatic diseases like juvenile arthritis, SLE, Kawasaki disease to name a few. Also children suffering from fever of unknown origin, and primary immunodeficiency diseases are attended to. The department has a substantial number of research papers and publications in national and international journals of repute and has made a significant contribution to the growth of this young subspecialty in the country.
